Goket customer app home screen
  1. Why Goket moved from WordPress to apps

Goket started on WordPress, and with thousands of products the site became too slow to use. They went mobile first: a customer app on Android and iOS, a rider app and a new website, with no designs, no existing code and two months to launch.

  2. Building the customer app, rider app and admin dashboard

    • Customer app in Flutter for Android and iOS, with phone number sign in, a fast catalogue and order tracking
    • Home screen controlled from the admin dashboard, so layouts, banners and featured products change without a new release
    • Rider app with order pickup, an optimized delivery route on Google Maps and payment collection at the door
    • Admin dashboard for orders, products and app content
    • Over the air updates with Shorebird, so fixes reach phones the same day
    • New website in React, built for SEO and visibility in AI search tools
    • UI designed from scratch around how people shop for groceries: fast search, clear categories, short checkout
    • Shipped to the App Store without an iPhone: set up a Mac mini, fixed two rejections and handled the DUNS registration so Goket publishes under its own name
    • Fonepay payments for both apps in progress, held up by local rules on payment APIs

Flutter, Dart, Shorebird, Google Maps, Fonepay, React, Android, iOS

  3. Results after launch

    • Launched on schedule, on Nepali New Year
    • 10,000+ downloads
    • 2,700+ monthly active users and 2,100+ registered customers
    • Close to 1,000 orders delivered
    • Fixes reach users within hours, with no wait for app store review
